To introduce us to this project, we were tasked with creating a car out of cardboard in small groups. This task developed our 3D thinking ability and model-making ability. We learned how to use gummed paper tape to create joints and built our cars. Before they were painted, they looked somewhat drab, however, as soon as the paint was applied the cars looked like toys. This shows how much the colour and finish play into a piece and change how it is viewed. In the lesson our lecturer told us to consider using hardwoods over woods like MDF and chipboard as they can have a more refined finish.
