Day 2: Chilly Down

For this project, I initially thought of building blocks as they are a simple yet extremely popular toy. I wanted to see how I could adapt building blocks to make my own product and, as I enjoy wood turning, I began considering rounded building blocks.

Building on this idea, while rewatching labyrinth, I thought about making a puppet that could be assembled, dissembled and reassembled in multiple formations, similar to how the Fireys were shown in Labyrinth.

To start this, I used the lathe to turn some wood and finished it with oil. This let me experiment with forms and better visualise how I wanted each of the parts to look. It also means I can test the magnet idea and see if the pieces will stick together or if the wood will be too heavy.
