After printing my inserts, they fit well into my silicone mould and I was able to mix the plaster up to pour into it. Unfortunately, while initially designing my pieces, I had thought I would be releasing them from the bottom and not the sides. This meant that all of my angles on the sides were right angles which, alongside me not always mixing up my plaster of Paris correctly, caused my pieces to break a lot.

Some of my pieces did work though, these were the ones where I had used more vaseline and mixed my plaster of Paris better. As mentioned in my previous post, I did (over many days) manage to create a liquid latex mould of my bishop piece and this repeatedly cast successful pieces. As a result, I have quite a few bishop pieces with which to experiment on.

I decided to use one of them as a master mould and paint latex onto it to try and create another latex mould. If this works, I will be able to use my successfully cast plaster of paris pieces to create latex moulds and cast them that way. This method (if my experiment works) will be a lot more effective as the liquid latex moulds are way more flexible, reducing the chances of my pieces breaking and I will be able to cast multiple pieces at once which I currently cannot do. Casting multiple pieces at once will also help as it is way more difficult to mix up a small amount of plaster of paris than it is to mix up a large one, as a result, I currently have a lot of waster plaster of paris which I have kept in the hope that one day I will find a use for it.

Disclaimer: I am not pouring this down my sink at all that is against my tenancy agreement (yes there is an actual line about liquid latex in my contract) don't come for me uni is closed and I am trying my best.
