Third Time's a Charm

For the third attempt, I decided to go with my initial idea of casting everything out of one mould, but go about it in a different way. I thought back to the artists I had looked into, specifically how Eduardo Paolozzi had cast one shape then altered it afterward. Building from this idea, For the more complex shape of the knight, I cast a solid block of plaster and carved it into the right shape. I really enjoyed this technique, finding the plaster a lot easier to carve than I had expected and the process as a whole quite relaxing. I also really liked the more handmade look it gave my pieces with the irregular surface and so did not sand down the piece to be perfectly flat.
After creating this piece, I then went ahead and made a silicone mould from it so that I would be able to cast multiple knight pieces and experiment with plaster of paris further. On the whole, this attempt went much better than my previous attempts (in that it didn't go horribly wrong) and so I am glad I re-did this project.
